National Competition
Our aim is to provide students with unique opportunities
National Student Championships
Individual Based University Competition
BUTL Nationals take place every two years (alternating World Championships) and showcase individual student athletes at the highest level. The Nationals offers Pattern and Sparring events for all University Students and Alumni. The event attracts competitors from all styles of Taekwon-Do, with six matted areas as a minimum this is one of our most prestigious events. Students from all UK countries attend and enter this event, each year we welcome competitors from over 30 different Institutions across England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, a first for University based Taekwon-Do. Our events cater for both ITF and WT students.
UK University National Leagues
University Team Competition
The BUTL League system is what makes us at the British University Taekwon-Do League stand out. Our unique team based competition allows us to represent all University students, creating the most inclusive experience possible. The league takes the shape of a competitive sports league, with universities competing against one another in team competition across four established UK regions throughout England, Scotland and Wales.
The leagues take place across each academic year, allowing each University to compete against multiple opponents in a professional and high intensity environment. Our events cater for both ITF and WT students.
UK Open Championships
Uniting Taekwon-Do
Our UK Open Championships are a yearly fundraising event. In order to support and sustain Student Taekwon-Do we feel it’s important to celebrate and continue to unite all styles of Taekwon-Do through competition. This event is often attended by Pioneers, Grand Masters and Masters and attracts a unique sense of excitement. The championship offers individual Taekwon-Do events such as patterns and sparring and is an open event, welcoming the wider community to show their support for University and Student Taekwon-Do.
