Be Successful
International Events & Training
The Student National squads are united teams that welcome all styles of Taekwon-Do practitioner. Currently housing University & College students from 50 Institutions across the UK, representing all ITF and WT groups. The teams train throughout the year at various locations, preparing for an array of International Championships. Being part of a squad means insurance and all training sessions are completely free.
Be Involved
Squad Trials & Selection
Each year we host open squad trials, giving trialists an opportunity to join the squad. The coaching team looks for those who show passion, integrity and potential, additional to previous performance records. Trials are open to all grades and styles. We also accept online applications throughout the year. Individuals are also scouted exclusively through BUTL competitions and events. The squad has both current student and alumni brackets (70-30 ratio).
Be Rewarded
Athlete Development Programme
All squad athletes are supported through the BUTL Athlete Development Programme. Athletes have a bespoke plan deigned to help them to achieve their goals and targets. With 1-1 support, access to personal nutritionists, psychologists, progress reports and on hand mental and well being support, the programme aims to assist and develop all squad members inside and outside of training. Athletes are rewarded throughout via the athlete Reward and Recognition Scheme. All athletes work with our squad nutrition, sport therapist and psychology staff, all provided as free services.

Team Clothing
We take pride and honour in our team members and ensure they have access to the most professional squad clothing and feel excited to represent. The National team is sponsored by White Wolfe Martial Arts Merchandise who provide top of the range squad tops and full tracksuits exclusive for squad members. The UK team have their own exclusive track suits and squad identity. Squad tops are provided free of charge to all our athletes.
Be A Champion
Success at International Level
Established in 2017, the UK squad has attended one World Championship and two European Championships. The current team success tally from these events stands at 11 World Champions, 13 European Champions and 39 National Champions. A further 89 International Silver and Bronze medals have been won by the squad at these events. We have both development and elite branches within the squad are incredibly proud of all their achievements win or learn.
